Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams are the world’s two best female tennis players at the moment and they are arch rivals. Whenever they play against each other, the spectators get to see terrific tussle.

Azarenka believes that she has been benefitted by the rivalry between herself and Serena. According to her, it’s something which has helped her become an improved player.

Azarenka’s chances of playing against Serena in the near future are pretty good. Both these players are going to take part in the upcoming Brisbane International Tennis tournament and if both of them make it to the title round there, they will be up against each other.

There have been 16 matches played between Azarenka and Serena so far out of which the Belarusian player has managed to win just 3 so far.

Talking to the reporters yesterday about the rivalry between herself and Serena, Azarenka said, “These kinds of rivalries help you improve to be honest. When you face a player of the calibre of Serena, you get to know about your weaknesses.”

“I really love playing against her. It’s always challenging to walk out there and take her on, but, it’s enjoyable too.”

“You want to beat top class players because that’s what gives you satisfaction. You put so much effort during the training sessions just to do that.”

During the last season too, Azarenka was scheduled to face Serena in the semi final round in Brisbane, but, she withdrew herself from that game due to some reason. Now, this time around, it is widely expected that both the players would reach the final and take on each other. If that happens, it will be a cracker of a game.

Azarenka’s first match in the Brisbane International Tennis tournament is against Casey Dellacqua of Australia.

There are some players who are just different from others and there is a term for them ‘Champions’. They are called so because they tend to come up with something special when the conditions are not quite favourable to them.

Serena Williams is one of the best of all times because of what she did on Sunday in the US Open final.  Her form wasn’t quite up there and she was not being able to make the most of the opportunities. She was clearly feeling the heat for the first time in the competition, but, the manner in which she shrugged that off was just remarkable. She battled her way through and eventually came on top to show why she is the best in the business.

Victoria Azarenka who was Serena’s opponent in that final admitted later on that Serena knows the art of winning perfectly well.

Azarenka said, “She is a legend. She has the idea how to do it time and again.”

“In such big games, you need to seize the vital moments and that’s what she did today. She was more aggressive and she lifted her game at the right time.”

“I tried my best and that’s what you can do. I am going from here with my head high.”

“It’s important to take positives out of such matches. It was always going to be difficult as I was facing a player like Serena and that too when she is at her peak. But, I gave her a good fight and that’s a real positive for me.”

The final match between Serena and Azarenka went on for 2 hours and 45 minutes and Serena eventually won it in three sets by 7-5, 6-7(1), 6-1. This was the 5^th time that Serena won the US Open singles title.
